Dr. Crystal Edwards, PhD
Dr. Crystal Edwards (she/her) is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator in the Africana Studies Department at San Francisco State University. Additionally, she serves as the Archival Research and Curriculum Development Lead at Vanguard Archives Consulting. Dr. Edwards earned her Ph.D. in Africology and a graduate certificate in Educational Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2017.
Dr. Edwards's research is dedicated to understanding the subjective experiences of people of African descent globally. Her scholarly pursuits encompass diverse fields such as Black Feminisms, Black Queer Theory, intersectional identities, African Diasporic history and culture, and archival methodology.
Currently, Dr. Edwards's research delves into the historical and contemporary implications of Black Queer Feminism as a liberating practice. She explores the significance of documentation practices and archival development within global Black Feminist Organizing organizations. Through her archival research, Dr. Edwards contributes to uncovering untold narratives and advancing critical discourse in Africana Studies.
